What gets inspectedI cover Titchfield village and the roads around it, on the stretch between Fareham and Locks Heath. The work is the ordinary run of domestic jobs. Faults traced properly when a circuit trips or a room goes dead. Sockets and switches changed, light fittings swapped, extractor fans put in. Consumer units changed where the board is old or has no RCD protection. And EICRs for homeowners, buyers and landlords. Kitchen and shower circuits, outside power and rewiring make up the rest.
Say where the house is when you get in touch and I will plan the visit from there. Quotes are free, the price is agreed before work starts, and you get the certificate for anything notifiable.
A kitchen job worth planning early. A kitchen that has only ever cooked on gas may have no cooker circuit at all, and an older one may have been sized for a small electric cooker rather than an induction hob with an oven sharing it. Check the hob’s rating before the worktop is cut, and I can tell you what the circuit side involves.
Beyond the kitchen, the planned work here is much the same as anywhere. An extension or loft conversion is best wired while everything is still open, with the sockets and lighting agreed before the rest of the job moves on, which saves doing it twice. A garage or garden office needs a supply of its own. Outdoor sockets and lighting need weatherproof fittings and proper protection.
A car charger belongs on that list too. An EV charge point needs a circuit of its own, so the real question is what your board and incoming supply can carry with a car charging alongside everything else.
That’s fine. Describe the problem in your own words and I’ll explain what’s involved. After 15 years I can usually tell you which parts are worth doing now, which can wait, and what each costs, so you can choose. The visit to work that out is free. Let’s have a chat.

Questions
Sometimes, if the circuit behind it is rated for the hob and anything else sharing it. The switch on the wall tells you little on its own; the cable and the protection at the board decide it, and those are what I check.
Tell me what hob or oven you are fitting, and I will come back to you with what the circuit needs.
