Having it testedThis page covers Swanwick and Lower Swanwick together, on the Fareham side of the A27 bridge from Bursledon. If your address uses either name, you are in the right place. What I am called out for here is the usual domestic list. Faults and tripping traced to their cause. Sockets and switches, light fittings and extractor fans fitted. Consumer unit replacements, EICRs and landlord certificates. New circuits for kitchens, showers and chargers, outside power, and rewiring in part or in full.
Peter does the job himself from first look to final certificate, with the price agreed beforehand. Quoting is free and carries no obligation.
A regular request locally. Most garages were built with a light and one socket, fine for a freezer and little else. Once there is a saw, a compressor or a heater, a circuit of its own beats a spur from the house sockets, with protection chosen for the surge a motor draws on starting. Sockets at bench height and light you can work by matter just as much.
Building work needs the electrics in the plan, not bolted on at the end. An extension, a loft conversion or a garage turned into a room is best wired before the walls go back, with the socket and lighting positions agreed first. Doing it in that order avoids paying for the same work twice. I check the board for spare capacity and protection at the same time.
The same check answers the charging question. An EV charge point runs on its own circuit, so what decides it is the consumer unit and the incoming supply rather than the charger on the wall.
Ring and say what you’re dealing with. Repair it, upgrade it, or leave it alone: after 15 years I’d rather walk you through those than quote for the biggest one. Clear explanation, free price, no obligation. Let’s have a chat.
Questions
Motors take a brief surge on start-up that can be several times their running current. Sometimes the answer is a circuit and breaker chosen for that load; sometimes the tool itself has a fault. Testing tells the two apart.
List the tools you will run and where the bench will go, and I will come back to you.
