Protection at the boardHighcliffe sits between Christchurch and New Milton, and I cover all of it. Most of it is everyday work. Fault finding when something trips or stops working. Sockets, switches, lights and fans replaced or added. Consumer unit replacements where the board is old or unprotected. EICRs for sales, purchases and tenancies, with the repairs that follow. New circuits for kitchens, showers and chargers, and rewiring where an older house has earned it.
Peter does the work himself, quotes before starting and leaves the certificate at the end. Quoting is free and commits you to nothing.
Being close to the sea affects fittings on the outside of a house more than anything indoors. Salt speeds up corrosion: screws seize, covers stop sealing, terminals corrode inside a fitting that looks fine from the drive. The symptoms people ring about — an outside light that flickers, an RCD that will not reset — usually mean replacement rather than cleaning, with enclosures made for exposure.
Extensions, loft conversions and garage conversions are all easier to wire early. The circuits go in before the plasterboard goes on, we agree the socket and lighting positions first, and I check the board has the capacity. Doing it in that order saves the work being undone later. A garden office or workshop wants a supply of its own, sized for the distance from the house.
An EV charge point is worth raising at the same time. It runs on a dedicated circuit, so what the board and the incoming supply can carry decides what is possible.
Ring and describe it. Replace it, repair it, or just keep an eye on it: after 15 years I can usually tell you which fairly quickly, and I’d rather do that than sell you a bigger job. The visit to price it costs nothing. Let’s have a chat.

Questions
Ones built for outdoor exposure, with sealed enclosures and cable glands rather than open entries, and fixings that will not seize. Even those benefit from a look once a year.
Say which outside fittings are playing up, and I will reply with the next step.
