How fault finding worksFull and partial rewires, and the smaller answers worth ruling out first.
About rewiringThe everyday jobs make up most of it. Faults traced properly when a circuit trips or a room loses power. Sockets and switches, light fittings, extractor fans. Consumer unit replacements. Inspection and testing for owners, buyers and landlords. And rewiring, whole house or circuit by circuit. Additions follow close behind: kitchen and shower circuits, outside power, and a charge point where there is somewhere to park.
All of it is done by Peter himself, NAPIT registered and fully insured, with the price agreed before work starts and a certificate at the end. There is no charge for coming to quote.
Poole and Bournemouth run into one another, and in places the boundary goes down the middle of a street. It makes no difference to me — I cover both — but it does mean people often are not sure which town to say. Give me the postcode and I will know exactly where I am coming, and you can stop worrying about which side of a line you are on.
A large part of Poole is inter-war and post-war housing: Alderney, Canford Heath, Creekmoor, Oakdale and the streets around them. The wiring in that stock is usually serviceable, and the thing that has aged is the board. So the work here is more often an upgrade, a spare way put to use, or one circuit brought up to standard than anything wholesale.
That is a starting point, not a diagnosis. What your property needs is decided by looking at it.
Poole houses tend to come with a bit of outside: a drive, a garage, a garden long enough to put a room at the end of. A garage or garden room wants its own protected circuit rather than a lead through a window, and an extension wants its circuits planned before the walls close up. If building work is planned, the useful time to talk to me is once the layout is settled and before the plasterer is booked.
Three things account for most of what I do here. A board that has reached the end of its life. Extra circuits for something being built or converted. And an inspection when a property is changing hands or about to be worked on. The first and the last have their own pages — consumer units in Poole and inspections in Poole. For anything else, just describe it.
Most people ring without knowing whether they need a repair, an upgrade, or nothing much at all. That’s fine. Tell me what you’ve got and I’ll explain what’s involved, including the bits I’d leave well alone. After 15 years I’ve a good idea what’s worth your money. The quote is free. Let’s have a chat.

Questions
In some streets it is genuinely hard to say, and it changes nothing at my end because I cover both. Send the postcode with your enquiry and that settles it.
Usually. It wants its own protected circuit rather than a lead run out of a window. How straightforward it is depends on the route, the distance and what capacity the board has spare — tell me roughly how far it is from the house.
Earlier than most people ask. Once the layout is settled I can say whether the existing board will take the new circuits, and the wiring has to go in before the walls are closed up rather than after.
Yes — the whole of Poole, and across into Bournemouth and Christchurch.
Describe the job and send the postcode, and I will come back to you.
