About board changesKnowing the condition of the installation before building work starts.

About rewiringSingle sockets, light fittings and odd jobs that are easy to fit in nearby.
Smaller electrical workOrdinary domestic work, mostly. Something has tripped and will not stay on, a socket or a light has died, a switch or a fitting needs replacing, or the consumer unit is an old fuse box that ought to be brought up to date. Then there is the planned side. Sockets and lighting added where a room has outgrown them. A circuit for a cooker, shower or car charger. An EICR before a sale or a tenancy, and landlord certificates. Rewiring too, usually in stages rather than all at once.
Whatever the size of it, the job is mine from start to finish. I look, price it before I begin, and hand over the test certificate at the end. The quote itself is free, and there is no pressure attached to it.
Chandlers Ford is the nearest place to my base in Eastleigh, and that makes a practical difference to small jobs. A single socket, a light fitting, or a fault that needs a second look are easier to fit in when the journey is short. I cover the whole of Chandlers Ford, Hiltingbury and Valley Park included; if you are not sure whether your road counts as Chandlers Ford or Eastleigh, it makes no practical difference.
Plenty of houses here have gained a room in the roof, and the loft is where the upstairs lighting cables ran — across the joists, clipped to the timbers, sometimes lying loose in the insulation. When a new floor goes down on top of them, those cables need protecting, re-routing or replacing first. The new storey also needs its own lighting, smoke detection linked to the floors below, and a board with the capacity and protection for the extra circuits. Settle it with the builder before the floor is boarded.
Outdoor work is steady here. A weatherproof socket by the back door, lighting along a path or drive, power out to a shed, a garden office or a detached garage. Anything outside needs RCD protection and fittings built for the weather. A building at the far end of the garden usually wants a circuit of its own rather than a lead through a window. Tell me roughly how far it is and what will run out there, and I can say what’s involved.
Small indoor jobs are just as welcome — extra sockets, a light moved, dimmers, downlights, an extractor fan, or a fault nobody has got to the bottom of yet.
Just ask. Repair or replace? Now, or when the kitchen’s done? After 15 years I can usually talk that through with you in a couple of minutes and tell you what I’d do. Being close by, popping over to look costs you nothing. Let’s have a chat.

Questions
The cables feeding the upstairs lights usually run across the loft floor. They have to be protected, re-routed or replaced before the new floor goes down, so plan it with the builder rather than discover it on the day.
Yes — all of Chandlers Ford, including both.
No. A single socket, a dead light or a switch that has stopped working are all normal calls, and Chandlers Ford is close enough that they are easy to fit in.
Tell me what it is — however small — and I will come back to you.
